Gulmarg Gondola

The wonderful attraction in Gulmarg is the Cable Car ride, which is also known as Gondola Lift/Ride (1 km west of Gulmarg’s bus stand).The ride is divided into two sections – Gulmarg to Kongdori and Kongdori to Apherwat. The Gondola passes over the pine forests, starting from a height of 2690 m above sea level and rise up to 3090 m while reaching Kongdoor.

Gulmarg Golf Course

Gulmarg Golf Club, established in 1911, was a summer resort for the British and they started playing Golf in the vast expanse of majestic greenish grounds of the Club. This has been credited as the highest green golf course all over the country.This majestic golf club offers an 18 hole and 72 par golf course facility for its privileged visitors.

St. Mary`s Church

A monument of the British Rule in India, St Mary's Church is a religiously important church in Gulmarg. The construction of the church dates back to 150 years and was done by famous British architectures in the construction style of British churches.

Shiv Temple

The Shiva temple was actually the royal temple of Dogra kings of Jammu and Kashmir.Also known as “Rani Temple” or “Maharani Temple”,this is situated on a small hillock in the centre of Gulmarg.The unique thing about this royal temple is the fact that it can be seen from all the corners of Gulmarg.The Maharani temple also known as Mohineshwar Shivalalaya was built by Mohini Bai Sisodhia, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh (the last king of Kashmir) in 1915


Khilanmarg is a small valley about a 6-km walk from the Gulmarg bus stop and car park. The meadow, carpeted with flowers in the spring, is the site for Gulmarg’s winter ski runs and offers a fine view of the surrounding peaks and over the Kashmir Valley. It’s a 600-metre ascent from Gulmarg to Khilanmarg.

Strawberry Village

A hidden attraction in Gulmarg is Strawberry Valley, unexploited by tourism and still holding its nascent beauty and charm. The emerald meadows with budding red strawberries look like a picture straight out from Garden of Eden. Covered in pristine elegance, with clear blue skies overhead and verdant green meads all along, a visit to Strawberry Valley is an enthralling experience.

Baba Reshi

Baba Rishi Shrine situated in the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir is a shrine named after Sufi Saint Baba Payam Uddin Reshi. It was constructed in 1480. Baba Reshi’s shrine was constructed in a Mughal and Persian style. The shrine has been built in the place where the saint spent his final days in prayer and meditation. Numerous people, both residents and tourists, visit this shrine each year to pay respects to the saint. This shrine is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Gandola Ride

One of the most exciting things to do in Gulmarg, Kashmir that enchants all the visitors is the Gondola ride. The Kongdori Gulmarg gondola is the 2nd highest cable-car line in the world. It is divided into 3 phases – Phase 1 is from Gulmarg to Kongdori; Phase 2 is from Kongdori to Apharwat; and Phase 3 is the Chair Lift phase from Kongdori to Mary Shoulder. The Gondola rides offer you the most spellbinding sights of both Gulmarg and Khilanmarg. Phase 1 lifts you up to the Kongdori Station which is at the height of about 8500 feet. And Phase 2 takes you to an altitude of almost 12300 feet. Enjoy the view of LOC, Nand Devi, and Pir Panjal Ranges.

Pony Ride

This gorgeous valley offers an atmosphere of calmness of nature with the excitement of adventure sports. Due to lack of motorable roads, the best way to get here is either on foot or on a pony. Enjoying some of the most spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks, a pony ride to Khilanmarg is an experience in itself. Blooming with several aromatic flowers are the additional bliss to this great valley. It is also a great spot for ski-lovers.


Skiing and snowboarding are two main activities which can be carried out in Gulmarg and it has become the most popular spot for skiing in India. Winter comes here with all its majesty and snow falling makes the landscape covered with thick glossy smooth snow.The slopes in Gulmarg are all natural, for the beginners it is best suited to choose the gentle slopes of ski runs that ranges from 200 m to 3 km. Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering located here also offers 10 day & 21 day short ski courses for newbies as well as advanced skiers


Gulmarg is a very popular trekking base in the Himalayan regions. Many trekking trails offering medium to hard adventurous trekking originates from the hilly terrains of Gulmarg.Gulmarg-Khilanmarg, Gulmarg-Apharwat and Gulmarg-Alpather trekking trails are very popular among the trekking enthusiasts. The trekking through the breathtaking undulated snow covered sloppy Himalayan ranges is really an adventurous experience to extol.Majestic views of Namga Parbat, enchanting snow covered valleys and dense forests make the trekking in Gulmarg a wonderful experience for any traveler. Ideal time for trekking is from April to November.
